Presidential election result: Anambra monarch reacts to Buhari’s victory

An Anambra monarch, Igwe Dennis Ezebuilo of Amunuke Kingdom, Awka North, Anambra State, has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his reelection.

Ezebuilo in a statement to NAN on Wednesday in Abuja said that the election was a fierce contest between the two frontline political parties, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He said that the victory of Buhari represented the will of the people, adding that the president had fought tirelessly for the masses, hence, their will prevailed in the Feb. 23 Presidential and National Assembly elections.

The monarch said that the victory secured by Buhari was not for him to rest on his oars but to do more for the people by providing democratic dividends.

According to him, there is need to do more in terms of provision of infrastructure, basic amenities, security, job creation, agriculture and the revitalisation of the country’s economy.

He called on Buhari to be magnanimous in victory and run an inclusive government while commending the president’s acceptance speech that every part of the country would be his constituency.

The monarch urged the president to immediately go into work and ensure that his cabinets were ready before May 29, which is the handover date.

Buhari was in the wee hour of Wednesday declared winner of the 2019 presidential elections by Prof. Yakubu Momood, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
